MTP cable assemblies or harnesses feature higher-performing MPO connectors – known as the MTP® connector – which is made by US Conec®, a company based in Hickory, NC. This improved optical connector reduces the amount of insertion loss when mating with fiber optic networking equipment, which in turn enables high-density implementation of modern high-speed LAN and data center applications. MTP patch cables provide over 12 times the fiber density in the same footprint as the LC or SC cables.
These high-performance MTP cables offer significant performance improvements over the standard MPO cable, due to its proprietary floating ferrule design, enhanced precision due to an improved spring design, and increased reliability due to elliptical guide pins. Because of these enhancements, higher data rates are achieved across complex networks.
